The Minnesota Freedom Band grew out of a grass roots community effort in 1982 by gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allied individuals who wanted to create a stronger sense of community through the sharing of music. We work for social justice and human rights by providing a positive, community building experience for our GLBTQIA+ members and by engaging the larger community through concerts and other outreach efforts. We have been supported for over four decades because we provide safe, positive places for all people to gather, create music and provide mutual support.

Other Ways to Show Your Support

Every bit helps! There are many ways to support the music and advocacy work of the Minnesota Freedom Band.

Volunteer

There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer, whether selling tickets or ushering at concerts, carrying banners in a parade, or spreading the word by re-posting our events on social media.

Attend Concerts

Come out to hear the band, and bring a friend! Your ticket purchase helps defray the cost of sheet music, rehearsal and performance venues, and other expenses. But most of all, we love to perform, and want to share our music with as many people as possible!

Hire the Band

If you are interested in hiring one of our bands (concert, pep or jazz band) for your event, please contact us.
